PR S6 Ep 3 Part I: Stork Chops

Previously, on Project Runway: The premiere saw our sixteen brave contestants gather at the new PR shindigs at FIDM in LA. The challenge: create a dress for the Red Carpet. Much hilarity, garishness and puckery seaming ensued. First Auf: Ari, the hand-standing free spirit who thought a silver space costume with pantaloons would be smashing on the Carpet.

This week's ep begins with our fifteen designers waking up in their fab apartments and chatting and voice-overing the usual musings about the previous challenge and where the next one might go. They meet up at the runway, where Heidi presents them with their Big Surprise: the Actual Celebrity Rebecca Romijn, who is extremely pregnant with twins. Their challenge: design an outfit for Rebecca that's form-fitting and fashionable. Their look can be for any event they choose: luncheon, dinner date, business, premiere, whatever. Then Rebecca does the most hilarious imitation of Heidi bidding the designers goodbye - for a second I wonder if she's actually being a bitch.

Project Runway Ep 3 Preview!

Oh my god you guys, maybe it was excess wine (but probably not, what, you think I'm some kind of drunk? *hic*) but how damn funny are the trailers for the new Lifetime eps??? If you pay attention, they are timed precisely like movie trailers. The voiceover, the editing, the buildup of the muffled-screeching music, the graphics and effects (Epperson X-Ray!), and most of all: the timing. I'm feeling affable enough that I want to high-five the editor of these things. It could easily be one of those things that becomes increasingly annoying, but hopefully it'll just stay funny throughout the season.

Sorry I didn't post the preview for Ep2, but I'm still finding my way around the new Lifetime Project Runway site, which is all-Flash, but enormous and pretty excellent. Check it out! My favorite things so far (I've only scratched the surface): the ability to watch full eps online, and the extended judging clips. (Still unsure of the best way to go about getting pics for the recaps. Wondering how cheesy it would be to recommend that people check the pics out on Lifetime instead of posting them within the recaps. Putting up images is a complete PITA - I don't know how Tom and Lorenzo (whom you should be reading by now!) manage.)

Althea, Gordana, Malvin, Louise, Shirin, Epperson, Irina, Carol, Logan, and Nicolas are deemed safe, leaving those with the highest and lowest scores on the stage.

RIP Ted Kennedy

Just a quick mention of the passing of our hometown Senator, Ted Kennedy, who last night lost his brave battle against brain cancer. Whatever controversy followed him, I've always supported him and voted for him. He accomplished a massive amount in his time in the Senate, and he will never be forgotten by the people he helped. Sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones.

PR S6 Ep 1 Part II - Challenge Time!

It's morning, and the designers meet Tim at the red carpet of the Nokia theatre, currently set up for the Emmys. Fittingly, this first LA challenge will see the designers creating a red carpet look, with the focus being innovation and point of view. They'll have $200- to spend at Mood and a bit less than two days to put their look together. They've been randomly assigned models, and given cards with their model's measurements (this will be important later).

It's nearly time, mes chou-chous! Tomorrow night sees both the Project Runway All-Stars Special AND the start of Season 6 at its new home on Lifetime. I'll be recapping my little fingers off; make sure you grab some wine/booze/food/unmentionables and get to your TV by 8:00 sharp. The recaps should be ready within the week.
